Booked the 2 full day Jewels of Cairo private tour for 4 people and it was worth every dollar!! Truly an incredible 2 days!! My husband and I have traveled the world and Ali, our tour guide, was by far one of the very best! He was knowledgeable, personable, generous with his time and kind…We loved being with him so much that we added on another excursion at the end of our trip and have requested him to take us around Alexandria! As for Cairo, seeing one of the 7 wonders of the world was beyond breath taking and riding a camel added to the memory. Ali didn’t rush us, gave us good advice as to our purchases and took us to an authentic “fast food” Egyptian restaurant for lunch. I highly recommend this trip for all the sites you will see in two days and all the things you will learn. But remember, if you can, request Ali!!!

Good: the tour guide is knowledgeable and provided good history and information of the city and Egypt. Driver is good handling the traffic of Cairo, getting from Point A to Point B safely and efficiently. The tour is flexible on the timing of each spots that were listed in the itinerary, and you can add spots if you like for a price. I added a stop at Saqqara pyramids for US$50 extra, paid in cash during the first day, and I skipped the camel ride.
Bad: I didn’t have the itinerary pulled up during the tour (the Viator app didn’t include all the info that was given in their website for some reason), trusting the guide knowing what are offered as part of the package. Having said that, bottled water was not provided (per “What’s included” section), and I brought my own. The itinerary suggested separate stop of the Mosque of Muhammad Ali and the Cairo Citadel. It actually was one stop at the Mosque and not a separate one for the Citadel (or maybe walking up to the Mosque is counted as a tour of the Citadel?). Lunches are provided, and I enjoyed the first one. The second day’s lunch was okay. I asked was there anything else the restaurant offered and was told no, so I was not able to get other things for the second lunch.
Conclusion: I think you can custom made the tour with the operator (Wonders of Egypt Tours) instead of buying this specific package with fixed stops. That way you can negotiate better rate overall with clear expectations. I enjoyed the tour, but I’d look for another operator next time. I can’t give them 5 stars for things mentioned above. The customer-focus act is kind of hollow in my opinion, overpriced for sure. Egypt is all about negotiating for prices, lots of hagging. Keep that in mind!
