This is a wonderful educational experience ! Your guide will take you around the Langa community and explain how the people were moved to this area to live. Visit one of the homes occupied by many people and learn more about their housing conditions. See cooking being done on a hot wood fire, go to where home made beer is brewed, visit the memorial , and other sightings in this remarkable tour.

This tour was excellent, despite an organisational hiccup that meant that I was picked up late. The tour guide was friendly and very well informed about the history of the townships. He also got on very well with the people whose homes we were visiting. This made things more comfortable for me. We didn’t visit the school because it was a Sunday but briefly attended a church service instead.

Tour was excellent! Tour guide very enriching and authentic. He used his heritage and knowledge as kid growing up in South Africa to inform and captivate the visitors with prestige past and present.

Accompagné d’un guide intéressant et attentif cette visite est indispensable . Au plus près de la population on plonge l’instant d’une visite dans le quotidien difficile et courageux des townships, sans voyeurisme et sans filtre.

I learned a lot about the apartheid system and how difficult life was for the people affected by apartheid ‘laws’

Avoid this tour, as the tour operator never turned up – leaving us high and dry.
There was no communication from the tour operator at all after we had booked and paid.

Walking through the townsite and mingling with the people.
The children were great to meet in the kindergarten as we had 5 of our family under12.

  12. Eoin_L

Probably the best thing we did in our time in Cape Town. Even though we didn’t get to visit the healer or the preschool (closed for winter), we still got a great sense of the community from walking around for the hour with our guide telling us lots of things. Highly recommend
