We booked this tour for our first full day in Istanbul and it was absolutely the best thing that we could have done to get our bearings. We were really lucky to have a great guide called Mustafa , who introduced us to his favourite food and restaurants on both the European and Asian sides of the Bosphorus. Not only that, but he helped us to sort out a travel card (recommend getting one, as the transport system is excellent and great value), had an excellent knowledge of the city and took us to some hidden gems that we would certainly have missed out on without him. A really good day, that set the scene for a fantastic weekend in this vibrant city. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend. So thank you Viator and more importantly Mustafa!

Thank you Hakan for a great food tour, for tailoring our stops based on my food preferences and for showing me around some of the cool sites in the city!!

We enjoyed Osme’s company on this cultural journey. The food was good and interesting. Osment explained what we were eating and often added its importance within Turkish culture. We could never have done this on our own.

This was a wonderful way to see Istanbul away from the tourist destinations and understand more about the people and their histories. Our guide was amazing, very well informed and a very nice person. We enjoyed spending time with her. We felt that the street food we ate gave us for the first time a taste of real Turkish food. Our guide made a very nice selection of different experiences for us, all delicious. To really enjoy this you need to be open to trying all different kinds of food, even if you think you might not like it. This was the highlight of our visit to Istanbul. If you are an adventurous eater this is highly recommended !

Can our tour guy was full of knowledge and a friendly, fun guide. He was professional and showed us unique food experiences at the market. He was flexible and ensured we got home safely.

Our tour guide Ozge was incredible! I had expected this to be a small group tour but turned out that it was private. The tour was mapped out but we were able to deviate occasionally when something interesting caught our eye. The food was all delicious and just the right proportions to keep you from getting too full. It was fun to see some different neighborhoods and learn about the culture and history of Turkey through the food. A lot of walking but with frequent stops it was quite manageable. Ozge was not only a great guide but by the end of the tour I felt like I had spent the day with a local friend.

We are from Sydney Australia and wanted to experience genuine Turkish cuisine. Our guide Yusuf Sipahi was a local who also loved to share (with pride) his wonderful cultural and food heritage. We saw and tried so many interesting things and Yusuf even found me a really clean bathroom when I asked to use a toilet. His knowledge of the history, old and new was fabulous, we learned and experienced so much and I’d recommend this tour to anyone wanting to experience Turkey as a “foodie”!
