The snow monkeys were so comfortable with tourists that they simply ignored everyone. As it should be.
The saki tasting was interesting and informative; even if not actually a drinker of alcohol.

Wow! What an experience! Our guide, Endo was an absolute JOY to be around. He emits such a warm and positive energy that is lovely.
Endo guided us up to the top of the mountain trail and was also a remarkable photographer! Get ready to climb a trail that is both strenuous and well worth the trek.
The snow monkeys are hysterical. They are boisterous and energetic and definitely living their BEST monkey lives!
We laughed, we played, and we watched monkeys interact in their natural habitat. Just wait til you see them bathe in the hot springs! It’s a joy to see

Everything from start to finish made for a great day
The temple tour, Sake tasting, Lunch & and the Snow Monkeys were all wonderful and fun. Our guide was very nice and easy to understand
The only thing missing was the snow

Beautiful temple, interesting sake tasting, good lunch and amazing time with monkeys made our day. Well organized tour and great guide, thank you.
    I recommend!!!

Our day trip to see the snow monkeys was enjoyable and we learnt a lot. Our guide Kieran was informative and friendly and made the while day easy and fun. He took us through temples and onto sake tasting, all the time explaining the history and traditions to us. When we hiked in to see the snow monkeys, for only the 2nd time this year there were no monkeys around. Kieran immediately loaded us onto the bus and took us to a nearby traditional onsen town, walking us through the streets and giving us a history of the area. Thank you for such an informative and interesting day, we will be back to see the monkeys.

Interaction with fellow group members and monkeys. Did not like that tour said moderate walking/climbing. Two in our group had to take more time to stop and proceed slowly. Thankfully the tour guide was patient and considerate.

Loved Yens! Such a great tour guide, very helpful and helped us see the monkeys. We though the monkeys were not going to be there, and when we got there they weren’t. But as we sadly trudged back, we heard the voice of our guide, Yens, calling from behind, “The monkeys are coming! The monkeys are coming!” We turned to see him racing towards us down the hill.
That’s dedication. And that’s why I gave this 5 stars!

Had a great trip and a relaxing last day before leaving Japan. The scenery is beautiful surrounding the monkey park. We were fortunate enough to have a pool teeming with monkeys. The temple was beautiful and the sake was delicious. Kay was a great guide and helped me find a yukata in Nagano so that I was able to help fulfill a friend’s request.

Most memorable with Kunihiko Endo being a perfect guide! Great value for money, a wide variety of activities a d superb Japanese lunch! Not to mention the most rewarding hike to the hot springs of Jigokudani Monkey Park where nature is served best unspoilt!

Seeing the snow monkeys was truly an unforgettable experience, and one of the highlights of my trip to Japan. The guide was great and very informative, which made visiting the temple and the sake tasting extremely interesting and enjoyable experiences. Visiting the temple was a great start to the day. Not only is it beautiful, but it was also interesting to learn about the various traditions and charms. There was also an option to walk through a pitch black tunnel underneath the temple, which was an extremely unique and fun experience. The sake tasting was great, and not only did we get to try a large number of different sakes, but we also learned a little bit about sake productions and what differentiates different types. Lunch was delicious, and of course, the highlight was seeing the snow monkeys. It is incredible how close you can get to them, and watching them bathe in the hot springs was surreal. We got two hours at the park, which was the perfect amount of time. I never felt rushed or bored on the tour. We even got to try some apples, as they’re a specialty in Nagano! This is a must-do tour while in Japan

It was a really fun experience! The tour guide was nice, fun, and knowledgeable. I think the best part was being able to see all the monkeys out in the hot spring! But everything was well planned and it made my trip in Nagano super easy!

  12. James_H

The guide was well versed in the places we visited, the included lunch was great. As a bonus, the monkeys were at the hot spring and then it snowed! Fantastic day.

  13. Melissa_S

Seeing so many monkeys at the hot springs was amazing! The walk to the park was beautiful but visitors aged 55+ should know that there are 2 sets of very steep steps at the beginning and end of the trail. We also enjoyed the beautiful temple and tasting some delicious Nagano apples.

This was one of my top 3 travel experiences in over 20 years of going places. Yes, we lucked out on the weather and the monkeys were all over the place. This was amazing! But what really made this experience was the organization of the tour. Top notch. Everything on time, great balance between guidance and time on our own, and incredible lunch. Every experience seemed valuable and no pressure to buy sake, although it was delicious! The tour guide was really the best. Kieran (aussie fellow) was very friendly, professional and knowledgeable.

The snow monkey were awesome. You got plenty of time to watch and take photos of them. The guide, Kieran was wonderfully helpful.

Joyce was an amazing guide, knowledgeable and friendly. The tour was well organised and had a good pace, not too rushed. Would definitely recommend.

The snow monkey excursion in Nagano was wonderful! We got there during feeding time and got to see about 200 monkeys come down from the mountains to eat! We got to take many great photos of the monkeys bathing in the hot springs. Our guide Kirin was very knowledgeable and engaging. Lots of walking, but great experience. Highly recommend it!

The tour of Zokoki Temple, sampling the sake and lunch were all amazing. Had a great hike up to the money park, was cool to see the moneys interacting. Shout out to Joyce on the great tour that she provided!

    Excellent tour, highly recommended.
We were in Nagano for only one day and it was the best way to get the most out of the city & snow monkeys park. Our guide was very knowledgeable (having lived in Japan for over 20 years) and provided very interesting information along the way. The pace of the tour was really good, lunch & sake tasting were nice and we appreciate that we stopped in some local shops + explanations.
Memorable experience at the snow monkeys, we were taken there at feeding time so there were a lot of monkeys.

The temple area was beautiful and interesting to see. We didn’t care for the sake tasting, as we aren’t fans of sake, but it was informative. We loved the beautiful hike to see the monkeys. We were fortunate that there were lots of monkeys all over the place. It was fun to see them running around so close to us. People commented that they felt this park is fenced in – it is not. The fences are to hold the rocks against the side of the mountain in the event there is a rock slide.
