Bicheno Hotel Specials

Bicheno has a population of aproximately 700 and is one of Tasmania's most beautiful towns and one of the most popular holiday destinations. It began life as a sealing and whaling town and then transitioned to a coal mining port, but today crayfishing is the largest industry.

Bicheno is approximately two hours drive from both Hobart and Launceston.

Bicheno is blessed with many natural attractions, including a mild climate, beaches and superb fishing of almost every type. The town offers many activities for tourists, including a scuba diving school, and two vineyards (Freycinet Vineyard and Coombend Estate, south of town). The grave of Tasmanian Aboriginal heroine Waubedebar is in Bicheno.

At The Sea Life Centre you can view marine life up-close at one of several aquariums; several of the species are only found in Tasmanian waters. If wild life is more your interest then animals can be found at the Bird Life & Animal Park, which has many different types of waterfowl plus Tasmanian animals such as the Tasmanian devil.

Diamond Island has Fairy penguins and are a real treat . A guided "penguin tour" is available which provides safe transport to the island and educational information.

For walkers a footway, extends from Redbill Point north of Bicheno, to the blowhole at the south. Whalers Lookout provides good views, and in October and November, gorgeous rock orchids native to the east coast.
