Kingscliff is located just south of Tweed Heads on the coast in far north New South Wales. A very popular family destination for family holidays which include swimming, surfing, water sports, boating, walks and rides and fine dining and entertainment. Boat ramps are provided for both a sea entrance or access to the The Tweed River and Broadwater. Kingscliff has developed into a bustling beachside holiday town with numerous cafes and restaurants to meet everyone's tastes. A nice collection of shops and galleries top off this ideal vacation location. The Tweed Bicentennial Environmental Park contains both fresh and salt water mangroves (wetland). Walking trails and boardwalks are ideal for both family walks and bike rides. Picnic tables, free electric barbecues, and restrooms make for an enjoyable day out. Markets are very popular and when on a country drive lookout for roadside stalls where you can buy fresh fruit and veges direct from the farmer. Mount Warning The Mount Warning National park is a World Heritage listed park. Named by Lieutenant James Cook in 1770 Mount Warning served as a warning to sailors of the dangerous reefs along the shore. The mountain, known as Wollumbin, is a sacred site to the local Bundjalung people.Excellent bird watching opportunities are available. A walk to the summit, approximately 5 hours, will provide an excellent day for the out door enthusiast. Nearby towns include: Pottsville Beach; Hastings Point; Murwillumbah; Tumbulgum;Village Index and Coolangatta.
